"One Battle After Another" fue nombrada mejor película en la 98ª edición de los Premios Óscar, que se entregaron el domingo.
La dramedia de PTA se llevó seis premios Óscar en total. Paul Thomas Anderson también ganó el premio a mejor director y mejor guion adaptado, siendo estas sus primeras victorias en la Academia. Sean Penn, quien no estuvo presente en la ceremonia, ganó el premio a mejor actor de reparto, estableciendo un récord con su victoria en la historia de los Óscar.
Este año, los Óscar añadieron una nueva categoría, la primera desde que se introdujo el premio a la mejor película de animación en 2002, que reconoce el mejor reparto. Cassandra Kulukundis ganó el Óscar por "One Battle After Another".
Por otra parte, Sinners se llevó cuatro estatuillas. Michael B. Jordan fue nombrado mejor actor , mientras que Ryan Coogler ganó el premio al mejor guion original por su película, que también se alzó con el premio a la mejor banda sonora original para Ludwig Goransson y a la mejor fotografía para Autumn Durald Arkapaw, quien se convirtió en la primera mujer en ganar este galardón.
Las películas One Battle y Sinners impulsaron a Warner Bros. a una noche de éxito récord.
Jessie Buckley fue nombrada mejor actriz por "Hamnet". Amy Madigan ganó el premio a mejor actriz de reparto por su papel en Weapons .
La película KPop Demon Hunters ganó el Oscar a la mejor película de animación , mientras que la canción "Golden" de la película se convirtió en la primera canción de K-pop en ganar un Oscar, en la categoría de mejor canción original.
Frankenstein se alzó con tres premios: a mejor diseño de vestuario, mejor maquillaje y peluquería, y mejor diseño de producción.
Este año, la Academia también ha decidido incluir solo dos interpretaciones en vivo de dos canciones nominadas: «Golden» de KPop Demon Hunters y «I Lied to You» de Sinners , con el fin de agilizar la ceremonia y que termine a tiempo. El programa también incluyó homenajes a varias estrellas que fallecieron durante el último año, entre ellas Rob Reiner, Robert Redford, Diane Keaton y Catherine O'Hara .
