Ganadores de la 89va edición de los Premios de la Academia

Me siento feliz de saber que predije 18 galardones y me sorprendió bastante el error en la categoría más importante de estos galardones... ¡¡pero eso ya no importa!! el hecho es que ya pasaron los Oscars y nos queda claro cuales son las mejores películas en sus distintas categorías.

Narra la historia de Desmond Doss, un joven médico militar que participó en la batalla de Okinawa, en el Pacífico durante la II Guerra Mundial, y se convirtió en el primer objetor de conciencia en la historia estadounidense en recibir la Medalla de Honor del Congreso. (FILMAFFINITY)

¿Sabían lo que era en realidad Hacksaw Ridge?

Fue el nombre que el ejército estadounidense le dio a un acantilado en donde ocurrieron una de las batallas más sangrientas de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, pero esto solo lo sabremos después de que uno de los personajes sobrevivientes dice el apodo con cara de tormento, más después de que este mismo escenario se convierta por media hora en una mezcla de disparos, sangre y explosiones, donde ningún personaje está a salvo, ni siquiera nuestro querido Desmond.

Una vez más, Mel Gibson se envuelve en el género bélico, narrándonos la historia de Desmond Doss, el único soldado estadounidense que insistió en participar (de manera obstinada) en la Segunda Guerra Mundial sin portar una sola arma para defenderse. No obstante a que su padre quedó traumatizado mientras servía en la guerra anterior y los impedimentos de todos sus compañeros y superiores, su experiencia religiosa lo impulsó a salvar 75 vidas bajo su frase motivacional "God, help me get one more", mientras el resto de los combatientes americanos se dirigían a áreas seguras.

Dejando a un lado el tiempo de violencia que todavía retumba en mis oídos (y no lo digo por mal: es de las mejores escenas que tiene toda la película), los minutos de gloria de Garfield son los que no les dejarán olvidar esta historia. Con este papel, Andrew Garfield se gana un huequito en mi corazón, demostrando que ha aprendido a separar los personajes y dándole su toque a cada uno.

El conjunto de la excelente fotografía, el elenco que se gastó Gibston, más las dos horas de efectos de sonido, se resumen a la cruda realidad del momento en batalla. Entre la sangre, los sesos y las balas chocando con el suelo, me quedo con la voluntad humana de Desmond y el triunfo que se le atribuye por haber cargado a 75 hombres aun cuando el cuerpo no podía más.

Como cada final de año, comienzan a salir las listas con los títulos a tener en cuenta.

Se acerca el final de año y, con él, las listas de lo mejor de 2016. Como cada año, los miembros del American Film Institute han votado los filmes de mayor importancia, tanto cultural como artísticamente. Esta es la lista que ha salido como resultado:

Todo parece indicar que La llegada encabezará muchas listas de lo mejor del año, ya que la película protagonizada por Amy Adams ha cosechado grandes críticas, tanto de medios como entre el público. Por ejemplo, en Rotten Tomatoes cuenta con un 93% y en la crítica de SensaCine se define como "una de las películas más estimulantes del año", además de un filme que sitúa a Villeneuve como uno de los realizadores más relevantes de nuestro presente.

Nominados del cine a los Critics Choice Awards

Tal como se había anunciado la semana pasada, ayer (1ro de diciembre) se conocieron los nominados del séptimo arte a la 22 entrega de los Critics' Choice Awards, evento que se realizará el 11 de diciembre por la pantalla de TNT con la conducción de T.J. Miller. Así, comienza la carrera hacia los Oscar® con esta premiación en la que más de 300 críticos distinguirán a los mayores talentos del cine y también de la TV. 

La Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) publicó la  lista de candidatos a la celebración considerada la predicción más exacta de lo que pasará en los Premios de la Academia® el próximo 26 de febrero. Anteriormente, la Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) informó sobre los representantes de las categorías televisivas en este paso obligado en la emocionante carrera a la estatuilla dorada.
