Temporada de Premios: Ganadores a los Academy Awards 2021

Hollywood está marcando la culminación de una temporada de premios sin precedentes con la 93va entrega de los Premios de la Academia.

En las categorías superiores, Chloé Zhao ganó el premio a Mejor Película y Mejor Dirección por Nomadland, convirtiéndose en la segunda mujer en reclamar ese honor en los Oscar. Yuh-Jung Youn ganó el premio a la mejor actriz de reparto por Minari, convirtiéndose en la primera actriz coreana en ganar un Oscar. Y Daniel Kaluuya reclamó actor de reparto por Judas and the Black Messiah. 

En las categorías del departamento de arte, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom de Netflix ganó tanto por diseño de vestuario como por maquillaje / peinado, y los estilistas Mia Neal y Jamika Wilson se convirtieron en las primeras afroamericanas ganadores del Oscar en esa categoría. 

Netflix lidera todos los estudios con 35 nominaciones, seguido de Amazon con 12, Walt Disney (8), Warner Bros. (8), Focus Features (7), A24 (6), Searchlight (6), Sony Pictures Classics (6), Universal (4), Samuel Goldwyn (3) y Apple (2), entre otras empresas.

La ceremonia del Oscar de este año, que contó con 11 nominados por primera vez, fue producida por Jesse Collins, Stacey Sher y Steven Soderbergh y transmitida parcialmente desde Union Station en el centro de Los Ángeles, así como desde la sede de los premios, el Dolby Theatre.

Temporada de Premios: Ganadores a los Film Independent Spirit Awards 2021

Nomadland fue el gran ganador en los Film Independent Spirit Awards del jueves, obteniendo mejor película y mejor director para Chloé Zhao, entre otros premios. En el discurso de aceptación, el productor Peter Spears señaló que Zhao conoció a la estrella Frances McDormand en una ceremonia previa del Spirit Award. "Comenzó un viaje increíble", dijo sobre la entrega de premios anual.

Los premios Spirit han sido durante mucho tiempo el complemento peculiar y autorreferencial de los Oscar.

Chloé Zhao también se llevó la estatuilla de mejor dirección, durante un año en el que cuatro de los cinco nominados en la categoría de mejor director, sin precedentes, eran mujeres. En la historia de los premios Spirit, solo otras dos mujeres han ganado en la categoría:  Martha Coolidge  en 1991 por Rambling Rose  y Sofia Coppola en 2003 por Lost in Translation.

"Gracias a la comunidad cinematográfica independiente, no estaríamos aquí sin ustedes", dijo Zhao, quien también fue nominado anteriormente en la categoría en 2018 por The Rider.

One Night in Miami de Regina King fue honrada con el Premio Robert Altman, que se otorga al director de una película, al director de casting y al elenco. Los ganadores anteriores incluyen A Marriage Story,  Spotlight  y  Moonlight.

Temporada de Premios: Ganadores al WGA Awards 2021

Promising Young Woman y Borat Subsequent Moviefilm encabezaron los Premios del Gremio de Escritores 2021, ganando el mejor guión original y adaptado, respectivamente. Ambas están nominadas en las categorías de guión original y adaptado, respectivamente, para los Oscar 2021.

Después de no poder ni siquiera hacer la lista de los mejores documentales para los Oscar, The Dissident, que narra el asesinato del periodista del Washington Post Jamal Khashoggi en el consulado de Arabia Saudita en Estambul y su investigación, que implica a la familia real saudí, se llevó el premio al mejor guión documental en los Writers Guild Awards.

Ninguno de los documentales nominados de la WGA fue nominado al Oscar al mejor documental, y "All In" fue el único en llegar a la lista de documentales perfilados para la nominación.

Varios nominados al Oscar de alto perfil, incluidos Nomadland, Mank, The Father y Minari, no fueron elegibles para las nominaciones a los premios WGA debido a las regulaciones del gremio.

Entre varios aspectos destacados de una lista enormemente ecléctica de nominaciones, que vio un récord de 50 películas diferentes nominadas (en comparación con un máximo anterior de 39), estaba la categoría de dirección en la que cuatro cineastas mujeres fueron nominadas, rompiendo el récord anterior (de solo una ) y poner fin a una carrera de hombres de casi una década.

En otros lugares, las categorías de desempeño, un año después de que fueron fuertemente criticadas por ser completamente blancas, son las más diversas en la historia del premio y también mezclan talentos establecidos con estrellas en ascenso. Temporada de Premios: Nominados a los Critics Choice Awards

La Asociación de Críticos reveló el lunes las nominaciones para la 26ta edición anual de los Critics Choice Awards en medio de la pandemia de COVID-19 en curso y los cierres generalizados de teatros que han resultado en una temporada de premios interrumpida.

Mank de David Fincher lidera los nominados de este año con un total de 12 menciones, que incluyen a mejor película, mejor director, mejor guión original y mejor cinematografía. Las estrellas Gary Oldman y Amanda Seyfried también obtuvieron nominaciones de actuación.

Minari, dirigida por Lee Isaac Chung, le siguió de cerca con 10 menciones, incluyendo a mejor película, mejor actor (Steven Yeun), mejor actriz de reparto (Yuh-Jung Youn), mejor reparto y mejor guión original.

Otras películas que recibieron múltiples nominaciones incluyeron Ma Rainey's Black Bottom con ocho menciones y News of the World con siete. Seis fue el número mágico de Da 5 Bloods, Nomadland, One Night in Miami, Promising Young Woman y The Trial of the Chicago 7.
