"The Power of the Dog" gana Mejor Película en los BAFTA; "Dune" lidera con cinco victorias.
A ley de días de la gran premiación de la temporada, y las ceremonias continúan alineándose hacia los grandes ganadores del 2022. En esta ocasión, “Dune” fue la gran ganadora de los BAFTA 2022 con cinco victorias en las categorías de artesanía. “The Power of the Dog ” de Jane Campion ganó el codiciado premio BAFTA a la mejor película y al mejor director.
El evento más celebrado en el calendario de la industria cinematográfica británica regresó para su primera edición en vivo desde el comienzo de la pandemia de COVID-19. Los últimos premios BAFTA se llevaron a cabo el 2 de febrero de 2020 y el COVID-19 fue una preocupación distante para la mayoría de los asistentes. El evento del año pasado fue en gran parte virtual, con un estudio en persona para un grupo selecto de presentadores. También fue el comienzo de un capítulo problemático para BAFTA, que otorgó una contribución destacada al premio de cine al actor Noel Clarke durante la ceremonia televisada, solo unas semanas antes de que numerosas mujeres denunciaran acoso sexual contra el actor.
BAFTA, que desde entonces ha realizado una revisión de su proceso de premios especiales, este año se saltó por completo cualquier premio no competitivo, incluida su prestigiosa Beca BAFTA y su Contribución Destacada al Cine. Los premios de este año marcaron la segunda edición de los BAFTA desde la innovadora revisión de diversidad del instituto en 2020.
